Tweet Axis forces captured Tubruq on June 21st 1942, after heavy fighting. Tubruq was defended by British, Indian, and South African forces, of whom some 30,000 became POWs. The Axis also captured 2000 vehicles, 2000 tons of fuel, and 5000 tons of rations. General Field Marshall Rommel refused orders to kill Commandos & Jewish troops.
