Scrums Conservative MP Candice Hoeppner spoke to reporters about the fate of her private member’s bill to scrap the long-gun registry.  Liberal critics Scott Brison (finance) and Dominic LeBlanc (defence) reacted to Finance Minister Jim Flaherty’s speech at the Canadian Club of Ottawa. Flaherty's campaign-style speech focused on the economic recovery and the dangers of a coalition government. NDP Leader Jack Layton, Bloc Québécois Leader Gilles Duceppe, and NDP Deputy Leader Thomas Muclair also commented on Flaherty’s speech and on the long-gun registry. President of the Treasury Board Stockwell Day spoke to reporters about the government’s advertising. The Conservatives spent a record $130 million on advertising last year. Gary Lunn, Minister of State for Sport, addressed concerns over the upcoming Commonwealth Games, which are scheduled to start October 3rd in New Delhi, India.
