Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics
In Committee From The House Of Commons House of Commons Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics (June 3, 2010) The committee had invited ministerial aide Sébastien Togneri back to testify for the third time on allegations of political interference in access to information requests. He was the senior aide at the time for former Public Works minister Christian Paradis, who showed up uninvited to take Togneri’s place at the committee. Opposition members did not allow Paradis to testify. The Conservatives announced, on May 25th, that ministerial staffers would no longer be allowed to appear at parliamentary committees and that testifying at committees is a ministerial responsibility.
