Verizon 4G By Far The Fastest Wireless Network According to
In a nationwide survey of wireless data speeds, PC Magazine ran 140,000 speed tests in 21 American cities and four rural regions to see who had the fastest network among carriers like Verizon Wireless (NYSE:VZ), Sprint (NYSE:S), AT&T (NYSE:T), T-Mobile, and Metro PCS (NYSE:PCS).The Survey found that Verizon’s new 4G LTE network is much faster than other mobile web options, often attaining speeds that exceed home Internet connections. In every city tested, Verizon's 4G was by far the fastest network tested, averaging a download speed of about 9.5 Megabytes per second, nearly tripling second place T-Mobile's average speed of 3.7 Mbps. The knock on Verizon 4G, however, is its lack of rural coverage. The survey defined rural coverage as anywhere the drove that was outside one of their 21 metro areas. In rural America, AT&T's 3G network was the overall winner, showing a balance of relative speed and consistency, followed closely by T-Mobile, that while faster, was far less reliable than the AT&T network.Shares of Verizon Communications are trading up 0.64% at $36.23.
