A Correspondence by Finn and colleagues, published in the December 15th issue of Current Biology, reports an example of tool use in an invertebrate, the veined octopus. As shown in the video, these octopuses carry coconut shell halves for later use as a shelter; they carry them beneath their body, with their arms extended around the shell and functioning as rigid limbs for "walking" along the sea bed.
