HyeWon Chung During her early days at the American School of Milan, which she attended from fourth to eighth grade, Hye Won had trouble understanding even short passages in English. A few years later, in the hopes that they would experience less difficulty in the adjustment process, she helped transfer students from Korea learn English by reading them English books. When Hye Won entered high school, she realized that the infrastructure for learning English in Pogok, the rural district around her school, was not well developed. The educational environment was in stark contrast to that of Seoul, only an hour away by car, yet where large institutions exist due to high private education fever. Recalling her experience back in Milan, Hye Won decided to share her talents in English through community service. This time, she was able to help more children lacking educational opportunities by founding a club called ?EduEng,? which teaches English to elementary school students in Pogok Library on Saturdays. Since its establishment, around 100 student teachers have taught over 500 students with various programs, such as Book Reading, Drama, Chorus and Book Making. By motivating children to become enthusiastic about learning English, EduEng wishes to influence its local community one by one.
