iReport — Africom Now News UpdateA three-day African Air Chief’s Conference brought together the largest gathering of air chiefs across African nations today.Staff sergeant Scott Olguin has the story. Hot temperatures and more than 70 Congolese soldiers welcomed U.S. Airmen to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where they participated in exercise MEDLITE.The exercise kicked off April 27 in Kinshasa, aimed at improving the readiness of both countries' medical personnel and consisted of classroom instruction, an aero-medical-evacuation training scenario and a mass-casualty exercise.………………………………………………Officially opened April 27, Kelley Barracks now is home to a clinic annex. The clinic, in building 3312, will provide care to Tricare Prime beneficiaries, which includes active duty service members, activated Guard or Reserve members and command-sponsored family members.Clinic officials said retirees can also be seen at the annex and others on a space-available basis. Staff will provide limited services, which currently includes acute care, which refers to short-term medical treatment for patients having a sudden onset illness or injury. The clinic also can provide many pharmacy refills, saving patients time.………………………………………………In other news, former AFRICOM commander General William Ward retired April 27 in a ceremony at Fort Myer, Va.
