Shanghai has some 45,000 cabs. The vast majority of them are Volkswagens. The city of Shanghai is expecting more than 70 million people to attend the 2010 Expo world fair between May and October of this year.That has prompted Volkswagen to make more than 3,500 additional cabs available to the city. The new cabs are a special model - a Touran built in China and equipped with an efficient modern TSI engine. Volkswagen, Germany’s biggest car maker, has been active in the Chinese market for more than 30 years now.
