Aegon this month became the first Dutch financial group to repay all its crisis-era government support. Alex Wyneandts, chief executive of the global life insurer, explains to insurance correspondent, Paul J Davies, how escaping the restrictions that came with government support will affect its strategy and its targets. He also discusses the economic and regulatory challenges life insurers face, in particular saying policy makers need to make clear how they are going to resolve the sovereign debt crisis.
