Kenya Defends Bashir Visit; Saudi Torture Allegations
(Al Jazeera English News Headlines: August 27, 2010) Kenya defends its invitation to Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir to attend a ceremony to usher in a new constitution. Bashir is wanted by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity and genocide in Darfur. In Saudi Arabia, 24 needles and nails were allegedly hammered into the body of a Sri Lankan maid as punishment by her employer. As many as 1 million more people are on the move in Pakistan because of new flooding in the southern Sindh Province. The UN says over 6 million people are now homeless.
