The Idea of America
Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Gordon Wood presents a series of essays that examines the underpinnings of the American Revolution. Mr. Wood explores the origins of American exceptionalism, the Founders' belief in the universality of the Revolution, and the radicalism of Republicanism in the 18th century. Gordon Wood discusses his essays in conversation with author and historian Jay Winik at the National Archives in Washington,D.C.
