Continuing Military Support for Japan
After World War II the U.S. military occupied Japan and assisted in drafting a constitution which provided for only minimal defense. Even now Asian neighbors do not want Japan to re-arm because they remember Japanese conquests. Today, the U.S. continues support to a demilitarized Japan which has now become the number two economic power in the world. Should the U.S. support an economic competitor? Should Japan become more of a partner with the U.S. military? Is there a need for a U.S. military presence in Asia? From the Series:Capitol Region Roundtable
