APS sports complex controversy continues
tonight about the aps sports complex--and where it’s going to be built. some south valley groups are angry the project could be taken away from them after they say they rolled out the welcome mat for it next to atrisco heritage academy. joe vigil is there live with the controversy that's now brewing. this is where south valley minute thumbnail 10:00 pm residents thought the complex was going to be built. they are now going to put up a fight to make sure this is where it stays. the aps board is considering moving the sports complex from near atrisco heritage to 98th and i-40. last week neighborhood groups at 98th and i-40 told us they don't want the complex here. today south valley neighborhood groups who pushed for the complex say they still want it here. "i'm incredibly disappointed because the reality is that here's a location that needs something like this that would help our economic development in the area that would help our tax base but yet without a lot of input from the community suddenly it moves." commissioner de la cruz says south valley students have been traveling out of minute thumbnail 10:01 pm the area for years for football games.
