Lisa Roberts, a successful comic book artist, moves to the remote southwestern United States after being attacked twice on the streets of New York.  There she is befriended by Randal Atkins, another visitor to the community. When he tries to seduce her she knocks him out and calls the police. Lisa finding that the desert is even more frightening than the city, decides to return to New York. But, before she has traveled very far she learns which of these men is her friend and which is her deadly enemy, in a terrifying rooftop face-off she finds her courage and ends her nightmare.
