The U.S. dollar rose against the euro Tuesday. European official’s inability to resolve the Greek debt crisis pushed the Euro to the lowest level this month. The euro dropped from $1.4463 to $1.4295 in late North American trading Tuesday. However, the dollar index, which measures the performance of the U.S. dollar against six currencies, rose from 74.354 to 75.024 Tuesday.The loss of the euro comes right after a meeting of euro-zone officials who met in Brussels on Tuesday. They made no progress on agreeing on a second aid package for Greece.The European Central Bank and the German officials cannot see eye to eye on the issue of potential involvement of the private sector to come to Greece's aid. The European Central Bank does not want to use or even support any form of debt restructuring that could be seen as default by the market.
