日本時間７日未明、１８年冬季五輪の開催地に韓国・平昌が選ばれた。アジアでの冬季五輪開催は札幌、長野に続いて３度目。最終候補地には、ドイツ・ミュンヘン、フランス・アヌシーが残っていたが、平昌が１回目の投票で過半数を獲得、圧勝で選ばれた。
