'Life Cycles' wins best film at X Dance!
Ryan Gibb’s Mountain Bike film 'Life Cycles' wins a Trifecta of Best Director, Best Cinematography & Best Film at the 11th Annual GoPro X-Dance Action Sports Film Festival. Co-directors Ryan Gibb and Derek Frankowski spent two years on the epic project, shot on a RED CAMERA and produced mesmerizing imagery tied together with a clever narrative. Gibb accepted Best Cinematography, Best Director and Best Film on behalf of himself and Derek Frankowski. Gibb thanked his close friends and especially his parents who helped him finance the project. The film also got a standing ovation at his SRO screening for their masterful and impressive work. This film pushed cinematography in the actions sports genre to a new level.-For one insane week each winter, the world's top action sport filmmakers and athletes, along with cutting-edge bands and DJs and key figures from the entertainment industry, gather in Salt Lake City, Utah, to celebrate action sports culture at the annual X-DANCE Action Sports Film Festival. Launched in 2001 and coinciding each year with the Sundance Film Festival, X-DANCE showcases the year's top action sport films, followed by post-screening Q&A's with filmmakers and athletes. This year the weekly action sports show PLANET X will be featuring clips from some of these films as well as interviews with the filmmakers behind them.
