Women and Diabetes
Over two million Canadians have diabetes and about half of them are women. Women with diabetes are much more likely to have heart attacks, angina or heart surgery than men with diabetes. It is a little known fact that cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of not only Canadian men but also the leading cause of death for Canadian women. Participation in Toronto Rehab?s Diabetes, Exercise and Healthy Lifestyle Service can increase life expectancy, contribute to increased vitality, and help women to take control of their disease and of their lives.
