Fixing bank capital
A study from the Bank of England suggests equity capital should be more than 50 per cent of risk-weighted assets, well above the new 7 per cent standard. That is probably too high, but even a more reasonable 15-20 per cent would be a challenge. Lex’s John Authers and Edward Hadas discuss one possible way to meet it.
