Rumours continue to fly about a possible merger between the Liberal Party of Canada and the New Democratic Party of Canada. Don Boudria, a former Chrétien cabinet minister, shares his views on this potential merger. The Ontario Court of Appeal is currently considering the case of a woman who wants to testify wearing her Niqab during a trial. The woman has accused two family members of sexually assaulting her when she was a child. At the heart of this case is the clash between religious freedom and the right of the accused to a fair trial. Pascale Fournier, an Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Ottawa and a Research Associate with the Human Rights Research and Education Centre, provides details the possible repercussions of this case, which could set a precedent in Canada. Political commentator William Johnson analyzes issues raised in the House of Commons.
