Rupert Murdoch’s media empire was born in his native Australia. At the last count, in 2006, his company there News Limited controlled 68 per cent of the newspaper market owning eight of the 12 city newspapers as well as several television interests.It has reacted with fury at attempts to link it to the scandal at the UK.Greg Baxter is Director of Corporate Affairs at News Limited and he told the BBC that he finds it "grossly insulting" to compare News Limited's operations with the phone hacking scandal in the UK.
