World Music: Gael Garcia Bernal, "Quiero Que Me Quieras"
(Mexico) In the movie "Rudo Y Cursi", which roughly translates to "Tough and Prissy", two brothers leave their banana farm in Jalisco to gain fame and fortune as soccer players. Yes, they are Rubes, and yes, a life of luxury ends up being as much a curse as a blessing. But along the way, we are treated to Gael Garcia Bernal as "Tato" serenading us with what is surely his somewhat clueless leitmotif, a Spanish version of Cheap Trick’s "I Want You to Want Me." Our entry plunges brashly into every cliché of Mexican video. Sparsely clad leggy ladies? Check. Brightly colored accordion with "Tato" on it? Check. There's even a soccer ball bouncing around in there - and Bernal's singing as actually pretty good!Download Gael Garcia Bernal on iTunes.
