Move threatens homes of Israel’s Bedouins
Human rights groups have denounced an Israeli government plan to destroy 35 Bedouin villages that it has declared illegal in the Negev desert. The move - reportedly planned to enable the building of homes for 10000 people - threatens the livelihoods of Bedouins who have been living in the area for 60 years. Although compensation will be on offer, the government’s decision has for the most part angered villagers, who are Israeli citizens. Al Jazeera's Andrew Simmons reports from the Negev desert.
