Estando de vacaciones en los Alpes, Tintín recibe una carta de Tchang en la que éste le anuncia su próxima visita. Por la mañana, el diario anuncia el accidente, en el Himalaya, del avión en el que él venía. Seguido de este anuncio, Tintín tiene un sueño donde ve a Tchang vivo, pidiéndole auxilio
