Blisplinghoff on 1979 Chicago DC10 crash
Raymond Blisplinghoff (1917-1985) chaired the FAA commitee that investigated the May 1979 crash of an AA DC10 at O’Hare, killing all aboard. In this video shot at MIT in the early 1980s, he discusses the accident and its relevance to aircraft maintenance and technology. Blisplinghoff was a former head of MIT Aero-Astro (succeeding Doc Draper), former Dean of Engineering, and the first NASA deputy director.
