In this episode of From the Art Lab, artist and teacher, Kyle Wood, teaches us how to draw a sphere. This is the first in a four part series of episodes about how to draw basic forms of a sphere, cylinder, cone and cube. Kyle Wood demonstrates step by step shading to create the illusion of volume on a sphere using a variety of colors to create highlights, shadows and mid tones rather than the typical black and white. We look at the basic form of a sphere to develop a sophisticated sense of color and value in a way that an elementary student could follow.
