Labs across the world exchange stem cells for money
More and more labs across the world stock stem cells in exchange for money, buying into the promises offered by regenerative medicine, which they believe could one day cure diseases like Alzheimer. In the 1990s most developed countries set up public banks to store stem cells but many have banned the practice in private labs for fear of commercial abuse. In Egypt where 50 percent of the population lives below the poverty line, many think the issue simply doesn’t concern them.
