Yen aftermath
Uncertainty following the earthquake in Japan has driven a retreat from Japanese equities, and bargain hunters could be discouraged by a strengthening yen as overseas assets are repatriated to pay for reconstruction. But as James Mackintosh, investment editor, notes, the Bank of Japan may be more willing to damp the yen than in the past.
