At 50, US Peace Corps Still Draws Volunteers
Fifty years ago, President John F. Kennedy ordered the creation of the U.S. Peace Corps. Since then, it has sent more than 200,000 volunteers to work with impoverished communities all over the world. Now, despite the hardships of the mission and threats of budget cuts, the volunteers keep coming. VOA’s Jerome Socolovsky reports from Washington.
