Booth Urges Students to Quit Smoking
Student Health Services set up a booth today to promote the first annual KU Smokeout. Using a dramatic approach, the booth challenged students to stop smoking. Yellow signs posted throughout the booth explained the harmful effects of cigarettes. The signs included a list of the four thousand products and 43 carcinogens found in just one cigarette. Student Health Services representative Ken Sarber says that the booth highlights the six week Kan-U-Quit program. During the program, students meet with Sarber in five one on one sessions discussing the triggers of why people smoke. Out of the 26 students to go through the program last year, 23 successfully quit.
