World Music: Abjeez, "Eddeaa"
(Iran/Sweden) The Abjeez are sisters Melody and Safoura Safavi (In Farsi, "abjee" means "sister") and they are out to destroy stereotypes with their own special blend of irony and iconoclasm. They are not sheltered creatures either, born in Iran, but raised in Sweden they have traveled extensively abroad, honing their musicianship and putting the band together.   "Eddeaa" that translates to "pretention" is an arch visual send up of Persian imagery set to a Ska beat.  The lyric is an attack on posers and hypocrites: "Cherishing others, placing strangers on throne, despising and demeaning, looking down on your own."
