The EMS Culture of Safety conference was held recently in Arlington, Virginia hosted by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP). Carissa Caramanis O’Brien from BaselineVitals.com ( attended the conference for the MedicCast to interview attendees and EMS leaders. Keith Griffiths, a former editor of JEMS (the Journal of Emergency Medical Services), was invited by ACEP to attend and along with the Red Flash Group, assist in crafting the national strategy to create a positive culture of safety in the emergency medical services.  Keith Specifically mentions a discussion at the conference led by Scott Griffith who brought in lessons learned by the airline industry about safety culture and individual behaviors around safety.
