Mark Warawa
Beyond Politics Conservative MP Mark Warawa grew up in Langley, B.C., the eldest boy among four children in a household where music and sports and good grades were actively encouraged by his parents. Mark grew up wanting to be a dentist, or maybe an orthopaedic surgeon, but his science marks weren’t up to par, so Mark pursued an arts degree instead at Trinity Western University. It was while on tour in California with the school’s choir that Mark met his future wife Diana. First elected in 2004, Mark enjoyed a lengthy career in the insurance industry and 14 years as a Langley city councillor before running federally. Mark has been able to share his passion for music with his colleagues in Ottawa. Fellow MPs Kevin Sorenson, Chuck Strahl, Ed Fast and Randy Kamp perform as MP5 playing various benefit concerts around the Capital region. The father of five children and grandfather of eight, likes to unwind by riding his bike or skating along the Rideau Canal. Mark Warawa talks to Catherine Clark about his life Beyond Politics.
