Es una de las últimas registraciones del poeta chileno en la que es entrevistado un año antes de su muerte (1972), mientras era embajador en París. Neruda habla de su nuevo trabajo, del rol de la poesía y de la situación política de Chile. Es además uno de los pocos videos a todo color que existen de él.
