Pawel Althamer’s multi-faceted practice includes sculptures, installations, autobiographical videos, and performances. Declaring that ‘we are all actors’, Althamer invites a range of different people, including children, the homeless, and residents of Warsaw housing estates to participate in his projects. Examining themes of loneliness and alienation, Althamer’s work reflects, with humour and compassion, the immense social and political shifts that have taken place in Poland over the last two decades and the new realities that are shaping the lives of the country’s individuals and communities. In collaboration with students on the MA course Curating Contemporary Art at the Royal College of Art.The World as a Stage supported by the Polish Institute
