Theseus - Film Poem — The Metamorphoses series is a compilation of works designed to create a body of film poetry that breaches the boundaries of multimedia; exploring the intersections of sound and image, with presentations compiled to challenge expectation and inspire at a higher level. The series is a multi-dimensional work that is at once an intimate, surreal contemporary portrait of Ovid’s tales, and at the same time a slightly disconcerting poem. The content is intended to be unsettling, yet highly compelling, an intensely cerebral experience that requires time and energy to absorb and assimilate.   The use of found 20th century images are intended to operate at a highly metaphorical, ritualistic, cathartic level in order to compel the modern mind who can most readily deal with concepts in the context of familiar pop cultural icons. Theseus is an allegorical film poem from the Metamorphoses series recounting a hero’s conquest of his demons that ultimately leads to the discovery of his self.
