Take a vaction and do your part to save the environment
Ah, summer. The weather gets hotter, and not just because of global warming. Kids are out school, and work lets out for multiple long weekends. It’s the perfect time to take a vacation with your family and friends. But how do you make sure your summer vacation plans aren't hurting the environment? There are a few easy tips to make your vacation more green friendly. If you are staying in a hotel, ask that the housekeeping staff to not clean your linens and towels everyday, because you can save a lot of water and energy that way.... just make sure they do change it from the previous guests, because green friendly or not, that's just gross. If you are traveling by plane, don't forget that air travel contributes a lot to CO2 emissions. Consider purchasing some carbon credits to offset the impact of your flight. Look into low impact resorts and campgrounds that cater to environmentally conscientious visitors, like the campgrounds at Maho Bay on the Virgin Islands. And if you are traveling within the continental United States, consider getting to your destination by train... you'll get to see more of the country, and you will be getting to your vacation in one of the most green friendly ways to travel in existence. So have a blast this summer on your vacation, just don't forget about the environment when you relax and forget the rest of your problems.
