８３年からスタートした週刊『モーニング』（講談社）の連載「島耕作シリーズ」で、主人公の島耕作が初芝五洋ホールディングス（ＨＤ）社長に就任した。０８年５月２８日、東京都内で社長就任会見が行われ、作者の弘兼憲史氏をはじめ、弘兼氏と親交の深い俳優の辰巳琢郎氏やお笑いコンビの次長課長、中川翔子さんらが登場し、祝辞を述べた。
