Shell Rock marks Independence Day with fireworks
iReport — by ANELIA K. DIMITROVA The July 4th fireworks took on a different meaning in Shell Rock, the small community in Butler County, Iowa, which still mourns the death of Donny Nichols, the 21-year-old soldier who was killed in Afghanistan in April. The annual parade-- by far the most popular local event-- was canceled due to the repair of the Cherry Bridge. This video is taken on the balcony of Daryl and Diana Pals, who have made their home in the signature 1867 structure which once housed the town’sflower mill.
