Newton-North Delta
Campaign Politics Newton-North DeltaIt’s one of only two ridings where the candidates of the three main parties are fluent in Punjabi. For several elections now, the Vancouver area riding of Newton-North Delta has always delivered nail-biting finishes and this year promises the same. Liberal incumbent Sukh Dhaliwal is being challenged on two fronts. The Conservative candidate Mani Fallon, an entertainment industry professional and mother of two is determined to turn the riding blue while former BC Teachers’ Federation president Jinny Sims is running for the NDP. The economy, immigration, health care and the HST are all issues that play prominently in this tightly fought contest. Liz Walker is the Green Party candidate. The Communist Party is being represented by Samuel Hammond and Ravi Gill is running as an independent. CPAC’s Ed Watson filed this report from Vancouver.
