This is one of many short video segments which will be added to the Digital Tipping Point (DTP) archive. This semgent features Vladimir Glazounov, a Sun Microsystems developer. Vladimir introduces himself and tells us he was born in Siberia, Russia, and now he lives in Hamburg, Germany. I ask him what free open source software means for him. He says that open source software means freedom. He uses no Microsoft products. He likes the fact that with open source software, he can get the newest updates. He can trust open source software, because he is in control. He knows for sure that there are no back doors, as with Microsoft software, which uses backdoors to send information to Microsoft, without the knowledge of the users. He also likes the fact that open source software is gratis. Vladimir gives us a summary of his statement at the end both in English and Russian. This is Vladimir’s only segment.
