邊境禁區規劃 逾半維持生態保育用途
規劃署公佈，邊境禁區土地規劃的最後研究報告，涉及的範圍近2300公頃，當中超過一半的土地，當局建議維持現狀，包括濕地、山丘等具生態保育的地方，其餘近四成的土地，建議用作住宅及旅遊發展用途。 當局估計，釋出的邊境禁區人口將會增至3萬多，改善道路網等工程會創造4000多個就業機會。 研究報告指出，具生態價值的包括米埔、新田、馬草壟等地方，其中馬草壟當局建議興建生態旅舍，高度限制為6米，為遊客提供住宿設施。至於缸瓦甫會興建低密度住宅，地積比率為1.5倍，建築物的最高可以興建6層樓。 另外，邊境禁區的東面包括紅花嶺會劃作自然保育及康樂旅遊的用途。
