SPISPOPD - Smashing Pumpkins into Small Piles of Putrid Debris SPISPOPD holds one of the more unique places in gaming history and Internet lore, and it's directly tired to Doom and the general silliness that could erupt on Usenet. In 1993 PC gamers really could gather only in one place on the Internet, and that was the Usenet group comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.action. You can think of Usenet as a sort if Internet super-forum, not connected to any one website or controlled by one entity. IMO it's a better system than web forums, but eh it doesn't matter now.
