HSBC to pay premium for Nedbank stake
HSBC is poised to win the auction for a controlling stake in Nedbank, South Africa’s fourth-largest bank, after fending off fierce competition from its UK-based rival Standard Chartered. Sharlene Goff tells Daniel Garrahan that HSBC has the deal to lose and it would be a good strategic move for the bank.
