8-5: Matrices and Determinants
Section 8-5 gives us a final method of solving systems of equations: Cramer’s rule. By the end of this lesson, you should be able to answer: 1. How do you find the determinant of a 2X2 system? 2. How do you solve systems of equations using determinants? Again, we are seeing an algebraic method for solving a system of equations. This method requires both equations to be in standard form (Ax + By = C). Three determinant matrices will be created, and using the determinants will allow us to find both x and y, which again will represent the intersection of the two lines.
