George W. Vader (special edition) (2004)
This clip was made as a joke version of a pro-Bush advertisement done in another dimension in which Star Wars is a reality and George W. Bush is Darth Vader. The basic agenda was to relate certain parts of the patriot act to the ruthless villany of the evil galactic empire, as well as relating Bush’s use of fear to control people to that of the image of Darth Vader. The original version of this video was intended for the moveon.org sponsored "bush in 30 seconds" contest, yet I realized halfway through the creation that they were not going to allow it into the contest or even show it on their site because it violated several of the contest rules, so I made a longer version and spread it around the net myself. Here it is. It begins with a satellite zoom into washington dc from outer space when you hear another version of Geroge W. Bush in yet another dimensional reality where he's cool state that "The world has changed, and so must our government change with it, people are communicating and we're sharing information, we need to do that throughout the new world in which we live, the world would be an incredibly happy place!" Then it cuts to Bush standing at the podium with slick advertising banners all saying "Protecting The Homeland" when he suddenly morphs into darth vader and his goons in the back turn into stormtroopers as the eerie sounds of the imperial march begin... Bush Vader speaks: "We're in a new kind of war today... Nazism and Communism helped to define the twentieth century." Scrolling text: "George W. Bush's campaign strategy for 2004 is to provoke fear among the masses. WARNING: If you refuse to vote for him his team of elite stormtroopers will find you and they have the authority to arrest you secretly and keep you detained indefinitely.".. Bush Vader: "It is pointless to resist!"
