Vatna Ceremony Video by A Vatna is where the couple’s families rub yellow tumeric paste onto their legs, face, and arms while they sit on a patri (a special red board with embroidery). This takes place under a special redd cloth held by four women. The ceremony is done to cleanse and balance the body and get them ready for married life.   There is always rangoli in front of where the groom or bride is seated. The mother will clean the rangoli, mix it up with water, and put it on the front walls of the house with her hand. It is said that the longer this lasts, the more love the mother has for her son or daughter.
