Scott Armstrong
Beyond Politics Conservative MP Scott Armstrong was only six years old when he went campaigning door-to-door for the first time. It was 1972 and the candidate was Robert Stanfield, then the leader of the Progressive Conservatives. Scott Armstrong has been involved in politics ever since, culminating in last November’s by-election win in the Nova Scotia riding of Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley. Born and raised in Truro, Scott graduated from Acadia University and completed his masters at Florida State and a PhD from the University of Southern Mississippi. Scott was an elementary school principal in Truro for 10 years and worked as a campaign manager for the riding’s former MP Bill Casey and several provincial campaigns before putting his own name up for election. Scott remains active in the community coaching high school basketball. He is engaged to be married to Tammy Stewart later this summer. Scott Armstrong talks to Catherine Clark about his life Beyond Politics.
