Charles Schumer (D-NY) hasn't publicly taken a position on bids for the New York Stock Exchange (NYX) but behind the scenes he's now favoring a merger with Deutsche Borse AG. Bloomberg reports that GM's (GM) Opel division plans to start selling cars in Israel as it expands worldwide to markets including South America. Reuters reports that Credit Suisse (CS) was subpoenaed by the SEC this week for documents related to securitized home loans. Finally, Reuters reports that GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has no immediate plans to spin off an HIV drug company created in 2009 with Pfizer (PFE), though it is open-minded about the unit's long-term position.
