Afghanistan: An Unlikely Place for Tourism
War-torn Afghanistan is an unlikely vacation destination, but the first and only female governor of the country Dr. Habiba Sorabi is reviving tourism in the hopes of boosting the local economy. Rebuilding World Heritage Sites after the 2001 Taliban attacks, not only creates more jobs for locals, but can also bring an influx of money from foreigners coming to see the spectacular sites.
